POST-CORONAVIRUS DISEASE 2019 DE QUERVAIN’S THYROIDITIS – A CASE REPORT AND LITERATURE REVIEW

De Quervain’s thyroiditis, also known as subacute thyroiditis (SAT), is a self-limiting inflammatory thyroid disease typically occurring few weeks after respiratory viral infection. A 29-year-old female with no comorbidities presented persistent fever, neck pain, and swelling of 10 days duration. She had tremors, fatigue, palpitation. careful enquiry revealed that she been diagnosed coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) infection 6 ago recovered uneventfully conservative management. Her laboratories showed leukocytosis, elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate, C-reactive protein. Thyroid function tests (TFTs) yielded low thyroid-stimulating hormone, high T3 free T4. Ultrasonography was suggestive thyroiditis. scintigraphy demonstrated very technetium uptake which confirmed SAT. symptoms ameliorated nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug beta-blockers her TFTs improved during follow-up. We report this emerging sequelae COVID-19 fever pain following recent should alert clinician toward the possibility de severe acute syndrome 2.
